About Swatchly

Swatchly is a free color palette generator for designers, developers and anyone who works with color. Every feature is free — there is no paid plan, no ads and no account to create.

Why free?

Color tools are infrastructure for creative work. We keep Swatchly free by running almost everything on your own device: palette generation, color conversion and every export are computed by a small Rust engine compiled to WebAssembly. That keeps our costs near zero, so there is nothing to charge for.

How palettes are generated

Swatchly works in OKLCH, a perceptual color space where equal steps look equal to the human eye. It picks a base hue (from your locked colors when you have them), applies a harmony rule, spreads lightness for range, and fits chroma into the sRGB gamut without shifting hue.

Accessibility

Contrast is measured with the WCAG 2.x formula. Color vision deficiencies are simulated with the Machado, Oliveira and Fernandes (2009) model for protan, deutan and tritan types, plus achromatopsia and achromatomaly.

Open source

The color engine that powers Swatchly is open source under the MIT license: swatchly-color on GitHub. Use it in your own Rust or WebAssembly projects.
